Diamond Bakery is an iconic Los Angeles Jewish bakery started in 1946 by Jack and Betty Segal. In 1969 it was sold to  two couples, the Lottmans and Rubensteins, who met in Auschwitz in 1944 before liberation by the Allied Forces. After WWII, they immigrated to the United States and landed in Detroit, this is where they developed their skills as bakers. They later moved to Los Angeles where they founded a small bakery in Boyle Heights  before moving to Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. Throughout the decades, Diamond Bakery expanded from a small retail operation to a fully equipped wholesale bakery.  In December 2023, the decision was made to close the retail location and partner with Bread Los Angeles to focus on expanding the wholesale line of breads. This decision was made so Diamond Bakery's signature Ryes and Challahs can be found at many grocery locations around Los Angeles and beyond - so stay tuned!
